Shoot! I'd get one of those Gamo air rifles that shoot .177 or .22 calibre pellets at 1,400 fps. That will take care of the little rat with a furry tail.

When Shootin' Den went out of business here in Colo Spr last year a buddy and I went to the liquidation auction. He picked up a .177 pump pellet rifle for just this reason - to irradicate nusiance squirrels from his yard without alerting the neighbors (he lives within the city limits of Colo Spr (I know; I know.. .rules is rules and all such). The first night he went home and gave the rifle a test fire in his backyard (it was about 1 in the morning). He reported to me the next day that the rifle sounded like a cannon had gone off in the quiet 1AM hours. He decided that he'd never try that again.

Our kitchen window faces the front yard, and our finch feeders are in the tree in the front yard. The squirrels like to chew the feeders up, so I bought a Daisy Powerline 880 at WalMart for cheap. It does a number on the furballs, but the last time I shot one, I looked out the window and the neighbor was in his driveway looking around wondering what the POP was.

I'm sure he saw the skwerl flopping around under our tree, but he never said anything. I doubt he'd really care, he wants to go shooting anyway. He's a young Czech, only fired a rifle in the Army, and is fascinated with the American gun culture.

I am putting it to use until I have to give it to my nephew. My son has the WIN 22 but its to short for me to use so I thought I would "test" this out before I hand it over. I really like the CCI SS ammo, nice and quiet and pretty accurate.

But ya I may keep this one and get him another!

Sub-sonic ammo: The bullet is traveling slower then the speed of sound, but the gasses escaping behing it are not----> boom.

Pellet rifle shooting 1400 fps: The pellet is traveling faster than the speed of sound----> crack.

Pellet rifle shooting 900 fps: pellet traveling slower than the speed of sound, gasses behind it are also----> dead squirrel, ppppsssssshhhh.
