    Default 300 fireball loading questions

i got my upper, took it apart and thread the barrel, lower and parts are in the works. soon i will have time to load some ammo. i intend to load a supersonic round for general use, as well as a subsonic round for special occasions. most bullet manufacturers dont make any thing over 220 gr, and most of those are round nose. at subsonic velocities, it seems to me that a round nose would be fine, sure it is not as aerodynamic, but it is a short range round anyway. so the question is for those who know, is a 220gr round nose a waste of time, or should i stick with a spitzer? also, is a 240gr spitzer a better choice than a 220? for my supersonic load i was thinking about a 110gr?
i know that for actual load data, there are plenty of sites that have information published, but if anyone has a load they have good results with, i have to start somewhere.

i call it a 300 fireball, sounds tougher to me than 300 whisper.

For supersonic you cant beat the 125 gn Nosler Ballistic Tip or Speer TNT.

For subsonic, the Sierra 220 is the way to go. Round nose bullets dont feed well in AR-15s. it doesent make sense, but they just dont. Even with M4 feed ramps.

With H110 and surplus Sierra 175s, you can get a pretty cheap subsonic plinking load.

For killin small critters I use my bolt gun and 125s. For smacking things quietly past 300-400 yards, I like the 220s.
