If I'm feeling extremely charitable, I guess I could say he may have successfully put down some effective suppressive fire?

There's a weird aspect to the way primitive cultures approach combat. Its more about posturing and at most "counting coup" than it is about actually killing the enemy, taking ground and achieving objectives. I guess it explains how a bunch of pasty white Europeans could conquer the entire continent in short order.
