I cannot wait to try one of these.
I have always despised the "plastics", particularly in .40 just for the reasons he states in the video.
Leave it to Ruger to fix that![]()

Still a Ruger Semi-Auto.. not exactly the most reliable track record. But I might be jaded because my first pistol was a P-89.. gawd what an awful gun that was! Still not going to get me personally to buy in a round that just fills a niche need. But I don't want to start a caliber discussion. If .40 works for you and Ruger actually has their act together, that's a win for anyone who leans that direction.
I'll stay tuned for actual testing and full use results. Someone should come back and talk about it after about 5000 rounds. M&P and Glocks dominate this market slice for a good reason, but it's nice to see someone else who might have a viable option for those who don't like the M&P or Glock .40 solutions.
I ran the living fuck out of my P89DC
when I SOLD it she was well over 7k
granted it had to have some work done to it.... but show me a weapon that doesnt need a little TLC From time to time.
I now run a new KP944
we are just over 300 rounds still new.
Its like a virgin... you don't want to wear it out all in one weekend :P
and as Far as SW .40... I prefer it over a 9 everyday of the week and twice on Tuesday.
It's all personal preference because, in the end, when SHTF alles ist about what you can use to keep yourself alive
Yup... that P-89 was just fucked up 8-ways to sunday and for a $200 gun I wasn't putting any money in to it, much less, being that it was my first pistol, I really didn't know that about $150 and a good gun smith and the thing would have run like a raped ape. But out of the gate, it sucked balls bad enough to jade my opinion of any Ruger semi-auto.
I actually detested Glocks for many many years, mind you I'm not the worlds greatest pistol shot past about 20m. But one day a buddy made me run about 100 rounds through his G17, for some reason it clicked, the stars aligned, angels sang from the rafters and everything seems to come together. Grip angle, grip, trigger and sight alignment was more than natural, I just didn't have to fight the gun or myself to pull all of the basics together. The only other gun that ever came close was my Walther P99...wait for it... in .40
Gave up on .40 when I realized that controlling the recoil and getting back on target effectively just didn't compare to either .45 or 9mm for me. With my recently found affinity for Glocks I've just decided that I'll run Glocks in 9 and 45 and call it a day. Same grip angle, same sight alignment and natural feel across all 4 versions I've got. The only other gun I would even consider in the range of my Glocks for absolute reliability, yes out of the box, they work, would be the M&P line. S&W specifically targeted the Glock market and did a damn good job of it. Yeah there are other options, but if you want a dead reliable gun without having to spend extra money on it to make it do what it should out of the box, then as far as I am concerned and from my experience (not overly broad) then either of those two are your go-to options.
I've had SIG's, Taurus, Beretta, Ruger, Walther and a few others, Glock just works best for me. And you are so very right... run what works for you, practice, practice, practice. In the end all that really matters is that you can put the rounds where they need to be on your given target. Same goes for caliber. I can kill you just as dead with a .22 as I can with .50 .. putting the round in the right place every time is the only absolute requirement.
Still want to see the longer term results from the SR line... they've got potential, but like a lot of things, it's a "prove it" mind set from my perspective. Lets talk more after 5K-10K rounds![]()
I think your mind is set...
so we will just leave it that way.

On that pistol line, yeah pretty much. Still am interested in seeing long term performance results. Then again remember, I consolidated from 8 different pistols to 4 of the same manufacture. Did that for what I consider to be a sane reason, oddly getting the itch for new and maybe slightly different. The new S&W revolver line is slick as hell and I might branch out to a few M&P's as well, but all of that comes after a few new rifles
I think Ruger did pretty damn good with their Piston AR, quality accessories and add ons, well aside from that jacked up Mini-14 flash suppressor![]()
