One issue I have is that if you get in trouble for taking a leak in public (even just on the side of the road) you could end up on that list. I don't know if that is true but I heard it has happened.

It's true and it's absolutely ridiculous.

Say what??! Our prison system is a messed up snafu.
All it really does is warehouse people in ugly conditions with the hope that they will try to stay out next time.
Our society hasn't made any meaningful effort to research what might actually work as far as rehabilitation goes, nor is it willing to spend $ to implement it.

My wife works with the county halfway house here. It's an institution that is at least nominally intended to do rehabilitation.
Still, it's a degrading place with almost no regard for human dignity. They deal out punishments as if the residents are grade school kids, and frequently don't take the time to figure out what actually happened before booting someone back to prison.
My wife figures they are lucky when 10% of the people are able to stay out, and that's not the kind of results I would boast about.

Here is a great article on a Self-Governed prison in San Pedro. It's a great read. Our justice system is extremely flawed. We have more people in prison per-capita than pretty much every single country out there.

This is one of the worst things. I've watched friends go through this kind of shit because of a female that wanted attention and it was absolute hell.

Disagree, just because then we pay for them. Serious rapists and pedos should be put to death IMO.

People that pee in public, or a young guy who sleeps with his girlfriend and her parents freak out shouldn't have to live with that forever tho.

The serious predators should never go free. Years ago I listened to an interview with someone who had had been studying these people. He was a card carrying liberal and so was the interviewer. When he was asked what he would suggest, he tried for a bland response but finally said that the hard core types should never, ever go free. He even suggested that we find some island and just let them stay there forever. He felt that they were just wired wrong and even if they wanted to reform they'd be back doing bad stuff. There was a long silence after this since this was not what the interviewer was expecting. Perhaps Devil's Island has room?

I also agree that this list should be cleaned up so only dangerous types be on it. I had heard that about taking a wiz so when I'm out in the country and have to pull over I go as far away from the road as possible.
