From my point of view with a niece, and teenaged female cousins, and some time teaching in the school setting:

The above quote hit it right on. Kids are now required to take classes where they promote sex and have to care for a computerized baby and etc. It really IS that simple that kids see no apparent consequences for their actions. If they get bored of the kid, they give it up for adoption or the parents of the kid take over.

I know it defies logic but it is true. Parents raise kids, not schools, not relaives, not friends, but the parents. A lot of parents I've run across say things like: "They can make up their own mind" or other variances where the parents do not take a pivatol role in the raising and educating of their children.

We used to teach that there is an absolute right and wrong, that sex is best to be had under teh convenat of marriage, that morals/standards/ethics etc had a place in ones' honor/integrity/etc.

Not any more. Now the "whatever makes me feel good" lifestyle is catching up to us.... rant off. But in all honestly, that quote above is a bullseye.

Okay, so I've noticed this more and more lately, and I saw it again tonight at Wal-mart.

People who let their kids stay in the basket while the checker is removing the groceries, or let their kid ride on the baggie carousel. Tonight at Wal-mart some asshole was letting his kid sit on the baggie carousel, so the poor checker had to try and spin it around with the guy's stupid kid on there. I've seen more than one person leave their kids in the cart while it gets pushed around behind the checkout counter. The person working the register has to work around the kid taking the groceries out, AND putting them back in. Why don't these employees ever say anything?

I would just move their basket and yell "Next in line please!" Ridiculous.

How about kids running all over the store and knocking the stuff off the shelves and their parents not giving shit about it.

Yeah, that too. I just get more mad about stuff in the check out line because it is specifically disrespectful to a person, and neither party says/does anything about it.

^ Took the words right out of my mouth. It would take a whole five minutes before losing your job if you opened your mouth, even if it was completely justified.

It did piss me off. After some little brat almost plowed my daughter over on his skate shoes the other day, I've become more vocal.
