I've carried a sub compact in a Maxpedition Fatboy, never had any issues or anyone giving me odd ball looks. Seems to fit in with the REI/outdoors crowd pretty well. I stopped using it for a few reasons.

1. It was a hard core sum-bitch to draw from with any consistency, even with the "universal" holster inside the back pocket.
2. I had a propensity to get weighed down. I was constantly fiddling with what I carried in there so I'd have too much crap one time, too little the next.. and I've found that I really do just prefer small packs to the Jumbo.

Don't even consider the thing a mini-bob or such. Active Shooter.. meh, could be pretty good for that or as a car-borne aid bag... hmmm might have to think about repacking my car first aid array.

For an Active Shooter type incident, well given that my primary goal in a A-S situation is to get the hell out of dodge with family and friends intact, I really think there are much better and purpose built bags for that role.

Now maybe as a short hike or too the mall kinda bag with some essential spares like a blow out kit, a few extra mags, light, knife and munchies.. sure, why not. Just remember that like any bag, just because it can hold all that stuff, doesn't mean that all that stuff goes in there. To quote a really smart guy.. "The mission drives the gear, not the other way around"

Well I do agree that it certainly may not be the best bag of A-S situations. Normally I would agree that I get the hell out of dodge. However, when responding to a call for shots fired or something that I think will be along the lines of that it is nice to have, the extra ammo, batteries, powerbars, bottle of water, etc. Some building clearances can take quite a while, as I am sure a lot of people on this forum know and can vouch for how tiring and sweaty it can become.

Much like the multitool, this is the multi bag. Not the perfect bag for one thing but a decent substitute for them all.

I like that, I will probably use that. Plus I like to look at price for things. The perfect bag, if there is one, my cost a hundred bucks (In fact there is one that I really like at that price). Or you could buy a really good substitute at 40 or 30, or in my case 20 bucks. I am not rich so I gotta be careful with money.

I see it as a bag that goes into a bag. Kind of a way to categorize your stuff. Want to hike out a mile looking for water? Leave your big bag in camp and bring your Maxpedition that has a knife, compass, map, fire starting stuff, small first aid kit, ponch, etc. That's kind of how I'm using mine anyway.

Yeah I can see that as being a fair use, but if you have to run and gun, there would seem to me to be better solutions, even from Maxpedition (Falcon II and such), a small day pack or RAID pack for instance.

I trained some trying to get the hang of the draw from the bag down and without using the belt loop attachment, which was a massive pita both to get snapped and unsnapped, it just flopped and moved around way too much.

All said and told if it's just spares and sustainment, yeah it would be fair for the role. Just think there are better suited bags, and again, if it works for you... right on! It just didn't work so great for me, but it has serious potential as a first aid bag.

that was seriously strange, somehow the linking code was being rewritten as a link to that URL, what ever that was supposed to be even when I put it back in manually.
