Anybody know a place local (C-Springs) where I can grab some ammo cans, military surp style?

    Thanks,

I know it's not local, but a lot of times this guy has some pretty screaming deals.

He sometimes gets some real interesting stuff too.

I've bought from the Craigslist guy before. The.50 cal cans are awesome and in great condition! A regular 5.56 ammo can will fit inside the .50cal can. If you look at his craiglist ad, the bottom-right picture shows the many cans he has and the condition. They were all in great condition with good seals and many with fresh paint. In that picture (bottom-right) the 40mm cans are in the middle, the 5.56 cans are on the left, and the big .50cal cans are on the right.

As with most of Craigslist, this guy is cash-only.

I've got a 20mm metal can clunking around I'd sell if you need.

Yup, I've bought from the Craigslist guy @ Austin Bluffs & Barnes too.

He's got the best prices I've found and almost always has a lot of cans to choose from. I pick through them a bit to get the better looking ones (even the ones I don't choose look really good though).

I one thing I always look for is to ensure that they have the rubber gasket in the lid.

There is always the surplus store between Nevada and Tejon, I think the cross street is Mill Street.

IMO, there's no reason to NOT get 'em from Ammo Can Rick, the Craigslist guy already mentioned. I've bought from him a couple times, and I need more. It's just hard for me to be in The Springs at times when he's available.

Be warned though, he's one of those guys that buys big lots of surplus stuff from the military/gov, and he's got a whole place just packed fulla tempting goodies! If you're a packrat like me, you might be in trouble. Either come prepared with enough cash to buy what you can't live without, or save yourself and just bring enough cash for the ammo cans you need.
