I hear the same statement over and over. "My wife wont let me"....... So if something were to happen she plans on coming here? My own wife does not totally understand. She helps and gets most of it but if something were to happen she does not understand when I tell her that most of the family would be on there own.

I have some friends that have started but as the preparations start to grow the other half freaks out. Once you get past a couple of weeks worth of supplies then you are labeled as a "nut job".

I no longer try and convert anyone. I just do the best I can and help those that want to learn. The others like in the first sentence I tell them that it will be "sorry, but I can't help you"
Good post, and I agree for the most part. I think for me, it will be a "what can you bring to the table" situation, and "will you hinder my survival". With that said, I think that will leave my Parents, my Girlfriends Parents, and my brothers. Those people will be welcomed to join me in my efforts, because I know they have something to bring to the table, rather it be equipment, or skills. As selfish as it may sound, it's hard enough for you to prepare enough for yourself let alone multiple people. For now, it's just me and my GF and our immediate families. We will be escaping to our cabin in the mountains
