Had a boot load of Dell workstations at work that had this same problem. Given that they belonged to Uncle Sam and they have strick policies on working on equipment on this level, I had to get them all replaced. they were older and junk anyway so I was glad to get them replaced.

Of course, the replacements were still used dell workstations that were just one model up from the ones I replaced. Good ole Uncle Sam.

Did my fair share of Dell 280 motherboards for Mr. Sam myself.

We replaced hundreds of Gx/Sx 270/280 Dell motherboards. Dell had a "recall" on any board that failed. I personally replaced between 10 and 20 a week, and I did that for several months. The factory "recall" ended January 31, 2007? Maybe 2008, anyway, I still have about ten MBs in their boxes waiting for return shipping from Dell. The powers-that-be will not allow me to recycle them. They're too afraid Dell will want them back.
