me i say keep it local , friendly and face to face ( when purchasing firearms ) . thanks for the input so far , like i said i was just wondering and hey i dont care if it sounds lame , its nice to have a place to ask questions , buy , sell ,and trade . an honest thank you to Colorado AR-15 shooters forum
Oh yeah, I love this place! Very thankful for its existence! I'm just trying to make the point that on the Internet, you can't really make a site that's only inclusive to certain people in certain places. You can try to attract those people in those places, but you can't really keep others out. And the others aren't necessarily bad people just because they live somewhere else and share the same interests. I'm sure there's a lot of members here that used to live in CO but moved elsewhere, and remain members here to keep in touch with "home", so to speak.

This is COLORADO AR15.com, not AR15.com.
Note the big key word: COLORADO
I feel that sales should be reserved for in state sales. If you want something that is not found here or want to sell it nationwide go to THAT other site.
Otherwise what is the point of COLORADO AR15?
I really like the fact that this is a local site where the members are supporting fellow COAR members and Industry Partners, we can get to know who we are dealing with and develop a repoir with them and discuss local issues.
I am all for keeping this a local, in state forum, at least when it comes to the sales end of things.

That's all I have to say about that.......
This is what I was going to say but didn't want to jump the shark.

I look at out of state firearms sales with a little skepticism. Why can't you sell it locally?

I don't have a problem with out of state folk selling here (as long as its not dealers taking advantage of the free ads or BATFE trying to trick people into buying/selling across state lines without going through an FFL).

If enough of us here don't want to deal with out of state sellers we'll not buy and they'll go away on their own.

Lets let the free market work.

That said, I would like to see the seller's location in every ad (whether you're out of state or not ... I'm less likely to jump on a deal if I have to drive to Grand Junction to do the deal than if they're up in Parker, for example).

As for the example given by the OP, that's a ChiCom AK-47 ... because of import restrictions there aren't a lot of them in the US so they are worth a lot more than your average AK to collectors (but not really worth more to someone that just wants an AK) so finding a buyer for a premium priced AK that is really only premium priced because of vagaries of the market is going to be difficult ... wouldn't surprise me to see them signing up to every shooters forum they can find and still not finding a buyer.

So far it's at an acceptable level. This site lets anyone post for free without much of a hassle and like Elhuero mentions some sites get ruined by whacko admins who enforce their attitudes. Gunbroker and other places are not free so if someone out of state posts a limited number of ads and is not encouraging anybody to break the law, I'm cool with it.

I don't want to be exclusionary. I am leary of someone who is out of state, with a join date of Nov 2010, first post and they are selling firearms.

Am I weird? Wait, don't answer that.
