Default A fun time with DISH network......

After all these years (about 10) of being with DISH network I am switching. What a royal pain. "Well I can save you money right now" all the hoops but here is the best part.

I have one receiver downstairs that came when I signed up. About 5 years ago I bought a small (301) receiver and dish from Craigslist. This is what I used in the camper.

When the lady on the other end said I had to send everything back (on my dime) she mentioned the TWO receivers. I explained that I had purchased that myself 5 years ago but I would be happy to send there smart card back.

She asked if I had the receipt since according to there records it was "leased" equipment and that if I did not send it back that they would charge my credit card $$$ for the return of the "leased" equipment.

I did ask her to show where they had shipped it to me because as I said I bought it myself. Long story short I gave in and asked if there was anything else from my house that I had bought that they wanted.

This has been the most trying thing in my life just to save a little money.

What a nightmare. I would ask you to think long and hard about doing business with this company.
I see you running, tell me what your running from

Sorry to hear that Jerry. Unfortunately, CS for any kind of media/communication companies have tanked in the past decade.

Jerry, be sure to put insurance on those shipments, have heard stories of the boxes being claimed empty and you getting billed anyway. If you have it insured they will not try to screw with FedEx, not worth the effort...

Just deny the charges with your credit card company.

tell them to go ahead and try to charge it, then they can fight with the card company.

If you are going with directv, let me know I will give you my account number. you will get $10 off a month for 10 months. I will too

    dish sucks,

they screwed up our automatic payments about 6 years ago. they just stopped debiting our account. they admitted their mistake and then wanted to place us on a restricted service for six months cause our account was overdue.

they screwed up and wanted to place us on probation, i told them that was unacceptable, the customer service rep said there was nothing she could do cause the computer controlled who was on probation or not.

i told them there was something they could still do, come get your shit.

    love my direct tv

Include a little 'something' extra in the box... a dead rat perhaps?

The wife too had an issue with Dish Network. She signed up they said she had 72 hours to opt out, she did. They pretty much told her to piss off, you now have a contract. She called the BBB, two days later I had no contract and I had an apology.

I had DISH installed recently after researching them, Comcast, and Direct TV. Went with DISH because they provided more for less. I've heard nothing good about Comcast CS. I've heard horror stories about all three of them so...

I used to install Dish and Directv and I can say I love my Directv! Just don't let Qwest f it up if you decide to bundle.

I have already had my issues there as well. I (as other keep receiving these ads in the mail) call to see about the "bundles". as I am also trying to make my phone bill go down as well.

I am told that I have to sign up for direct TV, pay my money just to find out what the estimated "bundle" price will be. So I go and sign up for all this to be transferred to the "bundle" dept. Once there I am told that since I am already a qwest customer that they can't help me and I need to call them.

So Monday I call qwest............... I am first told that the rate from Direct IS the bundle rate and no further discounts will apply. I am also told that the rates that I have in front of me do not exist. I am also told that there is no way possible to reduce my phone/internet bill.

May be possible for 6months but then my rates would be much higher than they are now. I have what I call a basic phone that has a bunch of stuff I never use and 1.5Mbs service. It costs right at $100 per month.

I ask about Internet only with Voip and am told that my bill will be higher. The kicker is that trying to find the regular rates for some things on the qwest website is almost impossible. All they want to show is the teaser rates.

And backing up a min the Direct bunch did quote an estimated "bundle" rate of $54 for phone and internet before they found out I was already a customer of quest.

I am not done with this yet but as I said this has been the most time consuming endeavor I have had in a while. I guess they bank on us old guys just rolling over and playing dead.

I need to be like the younger generation in that I do not give a shit about my phone# and email address changing every year. Then I could save some $$$ by switching every 12-24 months
