So, I drank the SOG koolaid and ordered up a Trident. Not usually liking Digi cam or serrated blades, I broke out of my comfort zone.
I like the knife but it will not take the place of the Benchmade Griptillian 551.
I won't bore anyone with a thesis on every minute detail. It is assisted opening but takes two hands (or a leg) to close, all the time reloading the spring. The BM will open and close with a flick of the wrist once the Axis lock button is pulled back.
The blade is sharp but feels lighter than the BM. Also, the Trident has a 3.75" blade. This may be a legal issue for some.
I liked the ideal of the pocket clip allowing for the knife to sit flush with the pocket. I have yet to find a pair of pants that will allow this. If I push real hard, I can get the clip almost all the way down on a pair of jeans. Good luck getting it back out of the pocket.
Both handles are Zytel. Not much difference there. The BM has a little more of a curve.
The silly safety has locked up, on it's own, several times. That will probably come out at the first stripping and cleaning. The cord cutter, on the handle, seems to work pretty well. It kinda makes the handle look like a tiki head.
I'm thinking the Trident will be residing in the outer pocket of a Carhart jacket. This is my garage/yard coat that always has a knife in the pocket anyway.

Opinels when i'm messing around in the boat or Summer time cheese and crackers type blade work. I have a weakness for Balisongs because there more fun to play with then any mumbleypeg blade. There also easy to clean after gutting fish and coins don't jam them up in my pocket.
CRKC 21 is ok. Kershaw Trout is ok.
I really like the feel of my Opinel.
I like sex, drugs and automatic weapons. That's why i'm a dues paying member of the Libertarian party. Struggling to keep the government away from messing with the above.
My Wife has her own vice.
I carry a Gerber half serrated knife and a Smith and Wesson: Boarder Gaurd. The Smith and Wesson's blade is roughly 4" but it is my Emergeny First Responder knife with the window breaker and wire cutter which works just as well as a seatbelt cutter, and i was told by the cops i do undercover work for that its okay for me to have since you can see the clip on my pocket you wont catch me arguing with that kind of knowlegde.
Sorry for no pics gotta figure out how to make them fit better first.
The CRKT's always in my right pocket... never too far away from my hand. I moved the clip to the bottom end of the handle so the blade sits pointing upward, the nub thing on the top of the blade catches the edge of my pocket and opens the knife as I pull it out. After carrying both the drop point version of this knife and the tanto blade I have now, I gotta say I prefer the drop point. This one's on its last legs so I'll probably be replacing it soon with another drop point one. REALLY like the Veff serrations though.
The SOG Seal Pup (old version, before the Elites came out) is always somewhere close by... belt, backpack shoulder strap, etc. for the heavy lifting I don't trust a folding knife for. Concave top edge near the front of the blade is sharpened. Also my dive knife, although I haven't touched my scuba gear in over a year. Blade's missing about a 1/2" cause I broke and then reground the tip.
The Ka-Bar is usually around unless I have a reason NOT to bring it... on the MOLLE webbing on the side of my pack, sitting between the seat and center console next to the .44, whatever. Top of this one's been sharpened too. This is the one I mainly use on hunting/camping trips. Its missing about 1" off the blade for the same reason as the SOG, and I broke the butt off it too. Yeah, I abuse my knives. I thought this one would last longer being the D2 steel version, but it didn't help much.

Its a grate knife, and the serrations are awesome... they don't cut very well if you're using a back-and-forth sawing type motion cause they catch going back, but when you figure out how to use em right they're great. For rope and whatnot, you cut forward and it cuts through like butter. For something like leather, light plastic, etc. let it sit in one of the serrations and draw in back toward you, it works like a v-shape seatbelt cutter.
But like I said, when this one finally dies on me it'll be replaced with another one of the drop point versions (CRKT M21-14SF)...
