KS DOW was projecting a banner year for pheasants. I guess it "was" until you guys got through. Great job. Hope you left some seed stock? Just kidding.
If you don't mind sharing, but what area were you in?
Thanks!
we went to scott city, the farmer there farms for birds. He's not like a lot of farmers who farms for their pocket books. Every field had a minimum of a 2ft high weed patch in the corners. The weather this year gave the birds a great start. Everything grew early, until it got dry, but it was enough for them to grow and get multiple hatches. It's funny, we should of had about 120 birds, but we couldn't shoot worth a damn on monday. I had 5 misses inside of 40yds with my 28ga on monday, but that changed when i went to my boomstick. My good buddy went to atwood and got their party limit of 32 by 10am. Now that is hunting...
I live in a nice little neighborhood in Parker, a very Ozzie and Harriet place. Left my house one day and was turning right at the stop sign, and right there was four pheasants, two cocks and two hens, walking down the damn sidewalk! Not 100 yards from my back door, in a very residential neighborhood, right across from a school. Just strolling along like they were out on the town. True story, I swear to God!
carry one of these in case they attack:

Also was on the way to work and saw 4X buck standing in the open area on aventerra and chambers tuesday am. he just stood there looking at me right up till i tried to snap a pic of him.....surreal sight for sure!
Rival14 on Arfcom. Arguing on Internet forums is like the special olympics. Even if you win, you're still retarded. Yellow, Condition 1 is my style.
i bailed on opening weekend in SD, and regretting every minute of it...sigh
obama is just making sure that i don't distribute 2 much toxic shot across the SD landscape.
4 any of u that care, here's my pheasant recipe...and boy does it work. (taken from data.hodgdon.com):
1 1/2 oz shot
Longshot, 28gr
Win. 209 primer
WAA12R (i usethe claybuster replacement)
fps: 1260
This load bucks!
My dad is partially handicap, and when he blocks, he's hell on passing birds with these loads. He lost his dog last year, so it kinda sucks after a death march, going and finding the 4 or 5 DEAD birds laying around.
