I have NM iron sights on my custom 20" upper. I also have a red dot and auto ranging scope.

    Iron for most applications
Red Dot for close up ( sub 100 yards)
    Scope for 300-600 yards

Im old school open sights but as I age I find that I think I might like a optic sight not really sure . I can get a deal from a friend on a ACOG Ta-47-6 2x20 amber dot carry handle mount for $500.00 notax about 4 yrs old like new, or a AGOG Ta01 4x32 new in box with warrenty for $700.00 On ther site the TA01 list for $990.00 So is 700.00a deal is $500 for the Ta47-6 2x20 a deal ? I have a brand new XCR with Troy flip sights front and rear. I've been researching the optics choices and leaning heavily towards the EOT 512 or 557. Jerry at Ordnance Outsellers said he's going to be a dealer and thought the 512 might go for $300, but he hadn't seen his dealer pricing yet. Jensen Arms in Loveland had a 512 on display for $387 but didn't have any others in stock. I did like the ruggedness of the 512.

If anyone wants to see how their sights actually work in practical exercises, I strongly recommend shooting the Pueblo Rifle match (4th Sundays, 0 - 425 yards) and one of the local 3-Gun series such as Weld County or Clear Creek (0-100 yards, more CQB stuff). At Camp Guernsey, we do both but more longer distances.

Does anybody have any experience or opinions about the Trijicon Reflex vs. EOTech. Both seem to be about the same ballpark pricewise according to their respective websites. The Reflex doesn't require batteries where the EOT's do. If the Reflex is as rugged as the ACOGs they might be a viable alternative for my DSA FAL when it ever gets here.

In the meantime, I broke down and purchased a ACOG TA31F and will post some pictures of it on my XCR as soon as I figure out how to do it.

The best choice for a fighting/serious 1x dot is the Aimpoint.

The EOTech is better than the Reflex or Reflex II. The reflex is junk.
