    Default 1911 defender +p

Just picked up a Colt Defender brand new. It shoots great and is not ammo picky, surprised me. I shot regular pressure loads 99% of the time. When carrying, can the alloy frame handle some +P if it had to? Just carry 165gr +P. Not running it all the time.

It sure can, I've fed plenty of RA45TP to my alloy framed 1911's and have had no issues. Only thing I can suggest is that you use mags with plastic followers as I have noticed the metal type beat the living crap out of my feed ramps.

Replace the recoil springs every 1000 rounds and check the frame frequently for any signs of battering. A Shok Buff is not a bad idea but your Defender has a captive spring so I don't think you can use one.
