Larger weapons (30 mm) have had electrical ignition systems for a long time, but the 16 inch guns on a battleship still use what is essentially a 30-06 blank for ignition.....

Doesn't the GE minigun use electricity? I know that the military has pneumatic operated AA guns. But yeah I am always tearing apart one gun or the other and just kinda fiddle with em, look over the weapon to see how they operate.

The minigun has a motor to turn the action, but the cartridges are primer fired(7.62x51). Pretty much anything bigger than a .50 is electrically fired, IIRC....

I know the 20mm Vulcan cannon rounds are electrically fired, though the cannon itself is hydraulically driven. I believe the 30mm in the A-10 is the same.
