I was looking at the BF ads for a gun safe and really liked the Liberty safes that Gander Mt. had on sale. Dick's seems like they're going to have some good sales as well.
But... my wife was at Sam's club and they were selling their floor model Liberty Centurion 23 for $290, she scooped it up and now I get to sleep in on Friday!

Ok here are my opinions on the safes for sale. I am no expert by any means.

The centurion liberty safe at gander is $549, you get $20 gander cash for every $100, bringing the safe down to $449. The safe in my opinion is not the best. 4 locking 1" bolts on the opening side. Nothing on the hinge side. The hinge is hidden and the door only opens 90 degrees. The inside storage is split 50/50. But the hinge is what i didn't like. It seemed flimsy and was only 1/4" thick steal. Not water proof and 30min rating.

Sports authority and dicks has the 24 gun stack on. Dicks is cheapest at $449 - $50 MIR. You can go and preorder the safe right now and not have to wait in line. When it arrives in store you can pick it up at your convenience. It has 2 1" dead bolt pins on the hinge side, the hinge is on the outside, but the 2 dead bolts is what i like better. 3 locking pins on the opening side. Not water proof either but not bad for $399 after said and done.

My wife and I fell in love with a field and stream version at dicks. Listed at $599 - $50 MIR. I talked them down to $549. Applied for the dicks credit card which was another 10% off. Total out the door was $534 and I still get the $50 MIR.

The field and stream is a 28 gun safe. 3 point handle. Combo sytle. 3 locking pins on the opening side. 1 on top and 1 on bottom. 3 dead bolts on the hinge side. All 1". Water and fireproof! 50/50 split and the door opens all the way (almost 180 degrees). Not a bad deal in my opinion, figure it was worth it as my first safe. plus i can open it and show my wife how empty it is and ask for more guns!

    Very sweet deal.

I'm set for safes (okay, I could use another one but the wife would KILL me). What I'd like to get is another of the Stack-On 8 gun cabinets (see pic below). I picked one of these up a couple of years ago @ Sportsmans Wasrehouse on Black Friday for around $60 (they were running around $100-$100 at the time, now $120). I use the one I have to store some of my ammo (removed all but the top shelf). Another one would get most of it stored.

    8 gun cabinet........................................... ................. 18 gun cabinet

Of course, the 14 gun cabinet ($149-$179 depending on color, etc), or better yet, the 18 gun cabinet for $200 would be what I'd really like to find at a great BF deal price.
    Bass Pro
14 gun cabinet for $149 with a free "pistol box" in their BF flyer (http://bfads.net/Ad/Bass-Pro-Shops-2010/Page3)

    Sports Authority
    8 gun for $80 and the 24 gun safe for $449 (http://bfads.net/Ad/Sports-Authority-2010/Page2)

    Dicks
says "Save on alll regular-price gun safes and cabinets" with a 24 gun safe shown for $450 after a $50 mail-in rebate [mail-in rebates suck!]
Garmin eTrex Venture "package" for $120 (http://bfads.net/Ad/Dicks-Sporting-Goods-2010)

    Cabelas
Simmons 20-60x60 Spotting Scope with hard case, soft case and tripod for $37.50 after rebates,

    Product Description:
    • Durable Carbon 15 Composite upper and lower - 40% lighter than comparable aluminum receivers
    • 16" lightweight, chrome lined barrel chambered in .223 Rem
    • Bushnell Red Dot Sight Included with Combo
    • 30-Round Capacity
Are these a good deal, or is this particular model junk?
Seems to me its a cheap starting platform

correct plus you can order it now for that price and not deal with the Fri sale and such FYI. so its 450 than The MIR. make sure you get two recites so you can send one in and have one for your self! cashier should know how to do it!

also the field and steam safes are Stack on BTW same company just branded with different name and features!

also ammo will be buy one get one half off from what my boss told me! some is a good deal some isn't much of a deal depending on what you are getting.
