They are actually .308. bullets. I have been surfing the Swiss websites for several weeks and have learned a bunch. One site even has the manual translated to English for download. Try the Swiss forum on gunboards and these sites for more info.

Lots of reloading info on these sites and friendly folks. Another neat thing about the K-31 is many have tags under the butt plate with the soldiers name and info on it. many folks have actually got in touch with the soldiers who were issued the rifles.

    Default My K-31

My K-31 came today. Got to look it over but won't pick it up till tomorrow night. Ordered it from militarygunsupply.com/shop/
All matching numbers, No tag (bummer but no big deal) stamped CAI. Walnut stock with LOTS of dents from muzzle to butt. Bluing worn in places but still pretty good. Dated 55 on tang (I am guessing this is the date?) plus marked with a P. Action and trigger are smooth. Bore is dirty but rifling looks real good almost new. Will have to clean it good to make a judgment. I think it will clean up well. As dented up as the stock is I think I will strip it and try and steam out as many dents as I can and re finish it. I think it will turn out to be a nice looking rifle and still show it's history of use. Should have pictures tomorrow night or Sunday. Hopefully a range report Sunday.

O.K. I got it. Yes she is banged up but after a rub down with Old English she don't look as bad. I took the wood off and underneath the metal looks brand new. Man what pretty bluing. Bore cleaned up and now looks about brand new inside. I found a repair in the stock that was done very well. From what I have read the 55 on the tang means it was repaired by an armorer in 1955. I guess that is the repair. From the serial number it was built in 1942. If I knew how to post photos I would.
