    Default Pheasant Hunting!!!

My South Dakota trip is complete! took our limit each day, brought back 25
birds between my dad and I...we ate a few up there

Had a great time, the dogs did great, and can't wait to go again!

8.5 hour drive. the dogs slept the whole way back except for break to get gas and get a quick walk. got home at 11, went to bed and we both slept till 9:30! some tired pups!!!

This was the first hunt of the year out in eastern CO. kind of a doggy warm up before the SD hunt. got 2 birds, missed one. My dog took a fence wrong and ended up with 5 stitches!

All I have in this world is my balls and my word and I don't break em for no one.

Looks like a great time! Dogs look happy even with stitches.

Did you stitch her yourself or take her in to the vet? I've got a stapler in my dog first kit, but knock on wood, I haven't had to use it. Not sure I have the stomach.

Bullet is doing good, running and playing like nothing happened. he did manage to lick/pull the stitches out so I have been trying to keep it cleaned out. it mostly healed but there was still a little bit that was showing. It is healing nicely though so I don't need to take him back to the vet. I have been cleaning it out then supergluing it shut. he manages to lick it open by the end of the day but at least it is staying clean.

Those are some nice looking birds! I just wish we had decent pheasant hunting here in CO.

Dammit, I thought naming my new pup Bullet was at least somewhat original! lol Nice birds BTW, never been pheasant hunting but I'm itching to go bad! Have been slaughtering the ducks so far this year though.

I took him to the vet to get it done. he put him on an anesthesia and gave him 5 stitches. it was basically on his front leg almost in the armpit so i wouldn't have been able to stitch him up myself without having to really hold him down or something and didn't want to go that route. so it was worth the $45 the vet charged!
