S&W 1911SC in a Tucker TX Heritage rough-side out half-lined, spare mag, Kershaw Leek in stainless. Sometimes will go with the Kel-Tec P3AT as a backup or when I can't get away with anything larger.

I just picked up an HK USP Compact .45 stainless NIB for $625. That'll be my carry weapon as soon as the CCW goes through. I'll be placing an order for a Milt Sparks VMII ASAP as well.

    Here is what I recommend:

In addition to a quality pistol (I love Glocks)

A good holster: something that you can run with that will keep the pistol where it is supposed to be and that covers the trigger guard. Also you want to be able to reholster with one hand, without looking at the holster. This requires a ridged holster that won’t collapse when the pistol is drawn.

At least one supplemental magazine: The problem is your magazine can fail at any time in the gun fight. We call this a phase 2 stoppage. The only way to clear this malfunction is to have an extra magazine. As I was giving this speech to a friend, I took the magazine out of the Glock 23C I was carrying (while leaving the gun in the holster) and looked down at the mag that had just been in the gun and low and behold the follower had bounded up and would not have fed. If I had not had an extra mag on me, I would have had 1 bullet to win the gunfight.

Also, carry the biggest factory magazine you can get. Example: You carry a Glock 26 with a 10 round magazine inserted. Your supplemental magazine should be from a Glock 17 and have a +2 base on it. This gives you 19 rounds and is no more difficult to ware.

A good folding knife: Great backup weapon and tool. Good to carry on your support side for many reasons.

    A good flashlight

OC spray: It is really nice to have a non lethal force option. It allows you use it to escape situations where you are not justified to use deadly force. Not only that, if you do have to use deadly force, it looks much better on your behalf if you can say “I tried to escape the situation, the BG kept coming. I pepper sprayed the BG, he kept coming. As a last resort, I employed deadly force, giving loud verbal warnings before I did so.

    Nice 'Benzas.

    My current EDC consists of:

    Sebenza.

That's it right now. I'd like to get another flashlight to carry; I have a Streamlight 3N in my work toolbox and it's great. I should probably also get a small can of Fox. And eventually, once I collect the time and money, I'll get my CCW and carry my G19.
