Airport Screened Today

Just went through screening. I don't see any problem with it. Believe me if there is something to complain about I'm first in line. I just don't see any reason to complain. I didn't get a pat-down. Maybe that would be a different story especially if they have cold sweaty hands.

I don't think the person walking through the line will notice any difference with just being scanned a different way.

The problem is the same slippery slope that we fight with firearm's rights. You might not have a problem with nudie pictures of yourself, or a pat down; but what about my 8 and 11 year old daughters? That is child porn in my opinion. They are aggressive with their pat downs too. This is not acceptable for children, regardless of the veil of safety it might provide. I would like to see John Pistole have his entire extended family of all ages go through what the TSA feels is necessary and then hear about how much it helps.

The problem with airport rules is they are applied very inconsistently. One airports rules are another's discretion. As a former airline pilot, I have seen this first hand.

We can't be safe and secure. If we want security, at what cost. This is just one more erosion of our rights and freedoms, and quite frankly, I am tired of it.

My beef with the whole system is that I had to get a Commercial Driver's License with HazMat endorsement at work. To get the HazMat endorsement, I had to be fingerprinted and background checked using the TSA's Security Background check, which if you were wondering, is the EXACT SAME BACKGROUND CHECK that the TSA employees have to go through. I feel as though I should be able to show my CDL w/HazMat endorsement and just walk right through security, yea, maybe pass through a metal detector but that's it.

But frankly, I've been through the new scanners lately several times and they weren't that big of a deal. Now granted the dosage of radiation is a bit disconcerting, there's not much I can do and everyone ends up with cancer at some point...

I was duped into it this morning. They were diverting people to (what I thought) were different lines. When you walked past the divider, you were already inside the machine.

Like a good traveller, I had already emptied my pockets of any metal and removed my belt. That is no longer good enough, the screener was radio'd "he has stuff in his pockets" or something. Instead of letting me empty my pockets, he felt around for a bit. Really threatening throat lozenges in my pocket, let me tell you.

He also wanted to see my wallet, and rifled through it for about a minute. In detail. Took stuff out of it and everything. That pissed me off.
