Default The bug has bit hard!

Two more Romy kits in the mail Monday.. One underfolder and a Sidefolder.. Need barrels though. I might do the side folder with a RPK like stock and a longer barrel, the underfolder will live in a bag in the toolbox of the truck.. Well maybe...
I might have some folding stocks for sale soon

I really need to finish up my bulgy 74, at least to the point of figuring out what to do with the virgin barrel.

What does it cost to build an AK from a kit? I've only looked at building one briefly, but it is something I would definitely be interested in.

I too would love to have an AK "truck gun" but don't especially want to have a $500+ weapon stolen.

It depends on what you can get the kit & other parts (barrel, compliance parts) for...

I can tell you I'm into each of my 2 builds completed so far for just under $300, but that doesn't include tools I've bought...

This bug has bit me but I'm starting to wonder about kits vs completed guns now. I bought 5 kits years ago when they were cheap and completed AK's were high. The kits are getting expensive and if you work with a friendly FFL you can get pretty good deals on the rifles. here's a few just going to one site:
    http://www.centerfiresystems.com/akagun74.aspx
    http://www.centerfiresystems.com/AKAGUN-AMD-2.aspx

I still think it will be cool to get some of my kits working and doing it myself.

If you find good deals these days it's still close to worth building.
Parts kit W/O barrel $120 a flat and compliance parts $65 Barrel $110
$295 for "not a WASR". In this case they are two folder's which add to the value somePlus they are fun to build.

theres still some good deals out there on original barreled kits but there starting to get snapped up
if you can bird dog all the parts peices from different sources you can get away fairly cheap-somtimes cheaper than buying a cut barrel kit
up by me the dealers are charging insane prices for wasrs and century builds 500 and up-depending on the bling they have
it IS cheaper to build it yourself here-and thats including the price of tools!!

Speaking of bird dogging.. I just rounded up a Type 3 butt stock, Pistol grip and lower fore grip.. Dark and nasty from someones previous repair of some missing bits in the butt and really bad over the top of old varnish.

    Think it's special?
