A quick comparison... XM307 is the larger portable 2 man operated original version of XM25

[wet blanket]So with the combination of the 34 NFA and 86 FOPA we're going to quickly end up in a situation where our military will be armed with significantly better weapons than the citizenry ... so how long until our militarized police start using these for no knocks for drugs? Then how long after that for breaking into the "bunkers" of political dissidents?[/wet blanket]

I hate living in an age where something that should be heralded as a great advance for our military against the "bad guys" causes me to fear more for the future.

I think you are grossly underestimating the advantage the xm25 brings to the table. The few grunts I know are real excited over this. Where as currently, they have to call out air support or risk movement to engage enemy beyond 300-500 meters, xm25 gunner within the sqd can engage that enemy instantly.
I am not underestimating that at all. I'm just saying when I thought it was 2300 yards I was like "WHOA...", then had to be shaken back to reality by you damn people who can read...

I hadn't ever heard about these until this morning @ work when my Deputy Director of Engineering (Retired Army Sergeant Major) told me about them.

They sound like fantastic weapons and might start to turn things around for us over there.

I'm tired of hearing about or seeing footage of our troops getting pinned down by the enemy and then hearing about more of our guys getting killed.

Oh, I'm sure that our politicians will somehow force us to adopt new ROE to make it "fair" for the BG's.

I'm guessing the cost will make the cost of a 50BMG round seem like a .22LR by comparison.

I'll bet they're cheaper than a Hellfire, and a whole lot faster for the grunts to get on target.

And that is their greatest advantage. Personally, I don't care if each round costs the same as a new car if we can save more of our lives and send more of the BG's to meet Allah.
