How to Take Pictures of a Rifle Bore?

I think this qualifies as a silly question. I'm selling a rifle on an auction site and someone asked me if I could provide a picture of the bore. I am rather stumped about to do such a thing. My camera has a large lens and a bore is less than a third of an inch. No to mention the flash. I suppose doctors have cameras like that That they use to take pictures of areas I don't like to think about but I couldn't picture taking a rifle to my doc, or what the insurance would think.

Am I missing something or is this a doofus question?

Put a flashlight at the other end of the barrel, and your camera should be able to pick up a decent shot; for what he is asking. I think that is how it is usually done.

Take one of those bore flashlights (they are a fiber optic tube bent at 90 degrees) and shine it down the bore. Take a picture from the other end. The tube isn't very bright, so it will not wash out the image. I'd also suggest using a camera with manual focus...

Keep in mind, a good macro mode on your camera is required to focus up close. I have an old 10mp canon... and cannot seem to get real good focus on my barrel. Yep.. that's a bullet stuck in the barrel. Good thing, I wasn't rapid firing etc.

Well the problem for you is that the bullet is in the way of lighting the barrel from the other side, forcing you to turn on the flash and white out the shot. Try turning off your flash, and pointing a flash light into the barrel from some where behind the camera. Experiment with the distance so you can get enough light to see, but not so much that it washes out.
