I got out to the range yesterday. Shooting from a real bench was a pleasant treat. Wind was around 10mph, so it wasn't much of a factor. After last week I put a cleaning rod in a drill with a swab brush wrapped in 0000 steel wool. With a little oil, I polished it for a few minutes, then did a complete clean and oil.
These were all shot at 100yds. On the 5 shot group, the second shot went off before I was ready.

steel wool, on a drill, in your bore, for a few minutes....... that's 'interesting'.....
Not bore, chamber. The burr was at the back of chamber. I have not had any negative effects as of yet. I should have said for under a minute, not minutes. After waiting 9 months for the barrel to be changed and head spaced, I did not feel like taking it back.
Ahh.. I see... just be careful you don't tear up your rifle lands.
I haven't had any problems with bolt (yet), but on occasion I do use scotch brite on my Krink. Those nylon or those hard plastic brushes should work well too.
Nice groups by the way![]()
Whore monger Mike!
Slinging coconuts since ever since...
I used a swab that was tight in the chamber and put the steel wool about 3/4 inch back from the tip so the wool shouldn't have been close to the throat.
