I just saw this... I was out with you a few months back at CRC. It looks even better in person. Damn nice rig!

    shooting off my back porch.
Deviant left handed action 308, Bartlein barrel 22", timney trigger 2.5#, Mcree's Precision folding chassis, TBAC 30p-1 suppressor.
I sent the parts to GAP and they built this for me. It was about a 7 week turnaround.

Nice. Have you gotten to shoot it yet? Did you find someone with a Gen 2 on the shelf or pick it up used?

What caliber you got in it? Plans for any others?

Feels great. Right at 1lb. Zero creep, zero pre travel, crisp break.

Has some over travel that really doesn't bother me, but I might have a Smith install an over travel stop on it this winter.

Was shooting my .338 saturday and picked this up sunday so haven't had it out yet. I talked with a few distributors and DTA direct, no Gen II available, and didn't know when they would be. Found a used one with less than 100rds down the .308 conversion. Gonna look for other conversions, 6mm Creedmoor, and probably a .338 also. Got an extra set of new OD green skins, but they don't have the monopod cut, but I think I'm gonna ditch the monopod and skins, never liked using a monopod always a rear bag.

But they made it sound like the Gen 2 would still be made available factory new in the future? I thought they had moved exclusively to the A1.

    The releases went, in order:
    Gen 1
    Gen 2
    A1

In all honesty, I had a chance to save some cash and buy the Gen 2 covert brand new. I went for the A1 instead, and with the setup I have the improvements in the A1 don't really do anything for me. Should have just done the G2. As long as you don't mind the quad rail (which I don't) and you get the proper height mount so you don't need to adjust the cheek, the G2 is every bit as good as the A1.

Well, DTA wasn't so sure about getting me one, a distributor was but he would give me no time line. What you said above is exactly why I wanted a Gen II over the A1. None of the upgrades were things I was interested in. I'll head up to Mile High in a day or two and check on that mount. She said we could mount it up and check to see a) that it fit b) I liked it. They are great up there.

I have other long range precision rifles. BUT, these are the only truly custom rifles I have.
    Both are built by GAP
Deviant actions, Bartlein Barrels, Timney triggers, Mcrees Precision chassis, Atlas bipods, Nightforce NXS, ThunderBeast Cans. Suppressor cover, scope cover and cheek pad are all my design.
One rifle is 338 Lapua magnum and one is .308 The .338 is wearing the wrong rings until the medium rings come in. the high rings came with the scope.
