    Default hunting class

Someone told me today that I'll need to take a "hunter ed class" before I can get a hunting license.

    couple questions. . . .

I've been hunting for about 20 years, will expired licenses from another state get me out of the class?

and if not, where can I take one of these classes?

If Im not mistaken this is a federal thing; if you were hunting in another state you were either born before the cutoff or took the class long ago.

    Hi Joe,

Mtnman is right, if you were born after '49 it's a Colorado requirement to hunt in the state. They will usually accept proof of hunter's education from most other states (and other countries). Doesn't seem that expired licenses fits the bill, but you should call to make sure.

Note: If you have a valid hunter education card/certificate from another state, and it can be verified, it will be honored in Colorado. Certifications from other countries may also be accepted. For more about this, see the "Proving HE Course Completion" section of the HE Card Replacement Page.
I recommend calling DOW (see Mtnman's link) to get the full scoop. but I suspect you'll have to take the course.
