    Default Denver Assault Weapons Ban?

I am trying to figure out just what the status of the ban is. I am a Denver resident and would like to join the AR club. Problem is I don't understand what I can or can't own. Sorry if this question has been asked before but I didn't see it. It's my understanding that the Denver ban was preempted by the state legislature. But then a judge overturned that. Then I read that the DA isn't enforcing it. So does anyone have any insight on what I can or can't purchase? Just a little confused here. Thanks in advance for any comments.

You are correct that the state premption law over turned the Denver AWB. You are also correct that a liberal Denver judge ruled that Denver could keep it's AWB as well as restrict open carry.

My advice is move out of Denver there are plenty of places to live just outside the city limits. As far as if they are enforcing it I personally would not be willing to risk getting an 800+ dollar rifle confiscated to find out.

I live in Denver, and have had no trouble buying AW or keeping one in home. I figure that if you are not brandishing it around your neighbors no one is really going to care.

They publically announced that they would not enforce it pending any appeals. They will have to make a second "public announcement" when they decide to start enforcing again. That wont be for a while I'd guess. There is an appeal in the works. Karl.

Thanks for the comments. The "Ban" is a real mess. It seems that the take away from all of this is that its ok to go ahead? Thanks again for all the insights.

Has there been any progress on getting rid of the Denver AWB?

The Colorado Supreme Court is expected to rule by this spring.

I have read the decision, but am unclear if it is now lawful to possess an AR in Denver.
