    Default pocket holsters

My question is has anyone had experience with Pocket Holsters, either front or back pocket?

I have been thinking about a trying a front pocket holster for my Kahr PM9. Defensively it seems to be easy to be able to have your hand in your front pocket. If you think you might be in a bad situation it is less obvious to have your hand in your pocket than reaching around your back.

I have seen videos of guys drawing from a back pocket holster and they still look like they are fumbling around and not very quick. I have not seen much on drawing from the front pocket. The only real advantage I see from a front pocket draw is that you can relax with you hand on your weapon without bringing attention that you may draw a weapon.

    What are your opinions?

I use one off duty. Easy to draw from and havent had any problems.

I wear my pants kinda baggy Not like falling off baggy but just loose. And it conceals good. I have a few pair that are a little tighter and you can tell there is something in my pocket but you cant make it out to be a gun.

I have never used one of those expensive ones that are made out of leather I have always just used one of the cheap 9.99 ones from unkle mikes I think it is Made out of neoprem(sp) and had a few strips of sticky stuff on it so it sticks to the inside of the pocket.

I think I have posted a pick of it before. I cant remember.

I used to carry my PM9 in a back pocket because I thought I could reach for it while pretending to go for my wallet if I was robbed. It turns out that the PM9 fits too tightly in just about any rear pocket.

So, I switched to carrying a pistol in the waistband (MK9 or Glock 27 with a holster from milt sparks or FIST), and my PM9 or S&W 637 will often go in my front left pocket as a BUG (back up gun) in a Desantis Nemesis pocket holster. I say "often" because I decided that when driving I can access my PM9 better from a Desantis Apache ankle holster faster from the seated position in the car than I can access my IWB pistol stuck between me and the front seat. If I don't have the ankle holster, I take the PM9 out of the front pocket and stuff it between the front seat and console before I buckle my seat-belt.

True, in a threatening situtation you could have your hand casually in the pocket, ready to draw. I have practiced left handed firing enough to feel comfortable with that option if my right arm is injured or if I have to draw the BUG first.

I have a DeSantis Nemesis for my Kel-Tec P3AT. With it in my front left pocket, I can actually grip it for the draw if I'm in an uncomfortable situation and nobody's the wiser. I can't get to it when I'm strapped into the car, but I can still get to my IWB carry.

Hey Petes Tac ! I also like my Kel-Tec P3AT in the front pocket , but I don't have a holster for it. Can you tell me more about the Grandfather oak custom Kydex ? Is there a site where I can view one ? I find sometimes my gun turns in my pocket and I can't get it out the way I want to. Thanks

Thanks Pete . That's exactly what I've been looking for. I like some of the other stuff on there too. It looks like I'll be making an order soon . Thanks again, Larry
