Default Scenario: 3 Guys Assaulting CC Students

    OK, so here's the news:
    http://www.kktv.com/home/headlines/P...111814464.html

Now--you are walking on the college grounds and three guys come out of nowhere to approach you...turns out that for one reason or another you have allowed them to unfortunately get close enough to stop you and ask for a cigarette. Here's the quandary: once you have let them get this close, you can't hardly draw on them for no provocation--just for asking for a cigarette, no matter how suspicious you are. But from there to full assault may be only a partial second, maybe too late to draw--and if they find out you have a gun, it may turn deadly (for you) in a matter of seconds if they disarm you or your gun is knocked across the ground. The best solution is, of course, to simply not let anyone near you publicly, at night, in a strange place. But let's say that for one reason or another you failed at that mission. What do you do? Run, until you either get away or they run you down? What then? Where is the line of provocation in this kind of situation where you feel completely legal drawing, and, if necessary, using deadly force? How do you interpret the Colorado law here?

I'd tell them sorry I don't smoke while moving away.

if they threaten, approach or attack.. well the punchline is people are getting shot.

and if they get my gun from me, they'll have to hit me with it because it'll be empty.

    hypothetical scenarios are masturbation.

now I need to go have a smoke~

This reminds me of Jim's ccw class. I am so used to it by now, I don't even think twice each time. Any stranger approaches within 10 yard (considering we are in a wide open space where he/she/they could have take a different path), you point at them and ask politely, 'hi, how can I help you.' The point exercise works so well. It stops people and let them know that you are aware of them. In most cases, they just shrug off and change their direction to avoid me.

I imagine by doing this, I would have prevent the three guys from being too close before I find out what's their intention.

man that is a tough one, after the beatings downtown and along broadway already this year i could see an argument for fearing bodily harm, especially 3 on one.
Self control: The minds ability to override the body's urge to beat the living sh.. out of some ass.... who desperately deserves it.

I'm not sure I'd be carrying on campus anyway, I'm unsure of the legality of CCW on state campuses?

You only can't carry according to the school. No law against it.

I'll have to look again but that last I heard the only college that allowed CCW was CSU.

Back to the original question, I would jump around acting like a monkey and freak them out. Sure you feel like an ass but your atleast going to give some seperation from them if even just enough to pull. I also like the pointing Idea, reminds me of working concerts and getting a crowd to loose the crowd mantality.

I thought there was a ruling not too long ago mandating that community colleges couldn't ban CC. Probably in one of the threads about CU's anti-gun moves.
