Here are some before, during and after photos of that AR. They aren't that great. The rest are just some of my favorites. I've got a gallery on my website, but I don't know what the rules are for posting websites, plus that isn't what I was trying to do by posting this, I just thought you guys would dig his rifle.

Hell! I'll ask! What is your website and how do I get ahold of you to make my guns as pretty?

I couldn't have said it better myself. Amazing work. I'm especially impressed with how the scope turned out on the first rifle you posted (in the OP).

I, too, am interested in the durability of the teflon and any other coatings used. Any data on that for us?

What is the average turn-around time for most firearms?

Thanks again guys. I wasn't sure exactly how the AR would be received. They guy that I coated it for gave me freedom on how to coat it, he just wanted it to look nice. Every AR that I have done or have seen done are always Black, Tan or OD Green. I wanted to do something that was a complete departure from that. This gun is his play around gun, it doesn't need to be camo and doesn't need to disappear in the bush, it just needs to look good at the range Because of this, I thought it would be cool to do something different that would look classy and not "blingy".

As far as the durability of the Tef-Cote, people always ask if it will chip, scratch or wear. Yes, any coating will! I'm not going to lie and tell you that this is the only coating ever made that will resist all things. Now, that being said, it is VERY durable. My customers feel that it is a better and more durable coating than most factory coatings and they send me brand new guns all the time to have them coated. The most common comparison that you see is between Cerakote and Teflon. People ask for Cerakote by name because they have done a great job of marketing and I do apply Cerakote if that is what the customer wants. They have tons of data to back up their product because the did tons of testing while trying to get government contracts. No one has really done the same amount of testing on a teflon product. In the real world, I don't think you could tell them apart as far as function goes. I do prefer the friction reducing properties of the Teflon, personally. The main difference to me is that the Cerakote product is about 10 times the cost of Teflon. Because of that, I charge more for it, not because I think it is better, but because it costs me more.

I coat rifles for some of the best custom rifle builders in the country. 90% of the work that I do is for Gunsmiths. They all prefer the Teflon to any other finish and not because of the cost. They are building $5,000.00 guns, another $50.00 for coating would not matter to them, they simply want the best. The chemical, weather and wear resistance of it is pretty amazing. The cosmetic enhancement is an added bonus. A simple Matte Black Teflon is beautiful, durable and pretty inexpensive.

My typical turn around time for a standard refinish job is about 2 to 3 weeks in my shop. A little more if it is something fancy, a little less if things are slow. I am a one man shop, so it can vary a little bit, but quality control is easy to manage this way.

I also do Gunsmithing when time allows, Parts Replacement and I don't stock any guns, but can special order most any gun at pretty significant discounts.

Sorry for the long winded reply. Hope I answered all your questions.

    Shawn

Thanks for the reply and info. I really like what you're doing and think that I'll probably be looking to get a couple of guns done here in the future.

Wow, those all look great! "Coatings" aren't my cup of tea, I'd never do it to one of mine, but if that's what a guy wants, more power to him. It sure looks like you're damn good at it! I like the "multi-color" effect on that AR. Just getting my M1 re-parked was a major leap of faith for me.
