Default Anyone on Ft. Carson up for going shooting at Range 1?

Is there anyone here on Ft. Carson, or anyone off post with their firearms registered on post, that would be up for doing some shooting at the POW range (Range 1)? I have an RSO card and can sign for the range. Just need another individual with an ID card. No specific date yet but we can work out the details here if there's any interest. Sunday through Wed it looks like it will be in the mid to upper 50's. Post up if you'd like to go.

It's the whole "registering your firearms on post" thing that's holding my back from joining you.

Before 9/11 I used to shoot on that range a lot. I only live a couple of min away. And who can forget the shooting matches for Kit Carson week.

    Default Register Firearms On Post?

You have to register firearms on post? I thought if you lived in housing, you could keep firearms without registration. I knew if you lived in the barracks you had to register them and store them in the armory. I'd like to shoot there, but I am not keen on registering my firearms with the Army, since I live off post. Anybody have any clarification?

There law says that you need to have them registered if you live on or off post. I helped my last boss fill out 25 cards and he lived off post.

If you're E5 and below you're technically suppose to keep them in the arms room regardless where you live.

I will never use range 1. Even if they paid me.

    I don't register, that's if I owned any guns.

That's one I did not know about. My boss is an 06 so that issue never came up. What a bunch of BS. Just waiting for the day that THEY require everyone that works for the Fed-Gov to "register" there guns.

The reg used to state even if you lived off post, if you were stationed at Ft. Carson and lived within 50miles of post you had to register your weapons. That proved unenforcable and pointless so it was dropped. If you live on post in "family housing" and you're an E5 or above you can keep your firearms at your house. They have to be registered though. If you live in the barracks the firearm gets locked up in the arms room.

I haven't really had an issue with it. I usually register my firearms with whatever post I'm on so I can shoot at the on post range. Colorado Springs is horrible for places to shoot. They either want to bend you over and steal the cash out of your wallet while they're giving it to you or you have to drive 45 mins to find a place to shoot. Range 1 is 5 mins from my house, free, and has paper targets to 300 yds and steel out to 400. The whole registration thing sucks but it's nice to be able to shoot right here.

I figured there may be a few members that hunt on post or live on post and already shoot there. I don't have an issue finding another place to shoot...just name the place guys. I'm up for it!
