Default Kids night vision for Christmas

Spynet, a popular kids toy line has a Gen 1 night vision binocular for around $50. I put it on the 10yr olds gift list for him. Low and behold survivalist grandpa thought it a great idea (hehehe). Yes they're other options, but heck it is real night vision.

You've got a point there. A $50 Gen I NVG is better than no NVG.

Dang, now you've got me thinking (POST EDITED BY USER: This is where you point out the obvious).

Got one for the boy for Xmas as well.
He has this fascination with wanting to see in the dark.

Time to lock the old bedroom! Or as I call it, The workshop !!!!

Damnit you guys. Now I want one. I've seen the commercial for these on tv a few times, and always thought to myself that this is probably Gen I stuff. I don't know much about night vision, but I assume that you guys have some experience with it, and if you want it, then I want it.
