    Default Proud of my wife!

Just wanted to throw this out there. It's a really great story...of tremendous happiness for one family even though another went through great sorrow to make it possible.

My wife was one of the primary ICU RNs at Porter who cared for this guy following his liver transplant last week. If I recall correctly she was assigned to him for at least a couple of shifts because he was in such bad shape. I remember her telling me she got a liver transplant patient at the beginning of one of her shifts last week and that she had no other patients because he was in such bad shape and required constant care. I didn't realize at the time how critical it was. Seeing the family and "her patient" in the video kind of put it in perspective and helped me understand how important her job can be.

I'm just proud of her and what she's accomplished as a nurse in such a short time. She quit her job in 03 and graduated from nursing school in late 04 (with a 3.97 GPA!).

Sometimes we each do something we deem "everyday" that greatly impacts others. Sometimes it even saves lives.

We are all proud of her.

I'm proud of her too Carl. she's definitely a "keeper".

It takes a certain type of person to become a nurse. Whereas doctors, by nature, tend to be colder and less personable, a nurse needs to be someone who cares for and about their patient. This is a job that I could never do as I just don't have it in me to do it properly.

Your wife epitimize's the essential core of what a truly remarkable nurse should be. For this, you have every right to be especially proud of her. It sounds as if she is truly a gift from God.
