Default 2 piece rifle length quad rail handguard?

I have seen a picture somewhere of a carbine with a2 sight tower useing rifle length handguards? I assume they are 2 piece and cut out for the tower? Anyone know what I am talking about or am I confused again? I would like to keep the front sight and add those guards vs buying low pro gas block, handguards, flip up sight etc.

I saw one like that recently, it was a 2 piece, rear was normal crbine lenght freeloat and front attached to rear with 4 screws. An interesting idea.

Dont want to make any serious overall changes that cant be easily reversed. May just have to stick with what I have for now. Thanks again for the help guys.

OR, since I am sticking with the original tower and dont care if the handgurads move a slight amount maybe I will get a rifle length 2 piece set for cheap and a barrel nut and cut a slot for the tower?

If you go with a standard 2 piece drop in set you are going to have an issue-there is nothing to support the front of the handguards. You need the front handguard ring and it is held in place by the FSB.
Why not get a free float rifle length and bob the FSB, then run a rail height front BUIS? You will reap the benefit of a longer sight radius as well.
Milling a slot in a free float wont work either as the majority have to be threaded onto the barrel nut.
The DD piece is the way to go.....it just hurts the wallet once.
