Default El Paso County CCW Process

My wife is interested in getting her CCW permit and I may go through the process myself. I have a PA permit and reciprocity allows me to carry here in CO. I'm PCS'ing to AZ next summer and the CO permit will be good there as well.

I'm asking because in PA I literally walked into the Sheriff's office and they ran a background check, took the picture, and walked out in less than a half an hour with my permit. I understand the process is a bit more lengthy here and requires a class. I'm willing to pay for it all over again just to do this together with my wife. So...here come the questions...

    - What am I looking at time wise from start to finish with this process?

    - Who in the Springs does CCW classes at a fair price? (I'd like to support someone here on the board if possible)

    - How much does the entire process cost (on average) between the Sheriff's Office fees and CCW class?

Thanks all and I appreciate the help!

Now I am NOT Sure, but I believe that if you had a CCW issued in another state that it qualifies for the class.
anyone else have info on this?

Been a few years. Mine was originally from TX. Did the class one weekend. Turned in the paperwork and had my card in about 2 1/2-3 weeks.

I "think" there are two folks on the board that have the appropiate classes to teach, I'll let them chime in as I can't think of their SN's right now...

Again, it's been a few years but I think you're safe to look at a total around $200. $100 or so for a class, $50 for paperwork, and $50 for misc fees, etc... I may be totally off base again as it's been a few years but I seem to remember that number.

Thanks all and I appreciate the help!

Rgr, that's what we are here for. You can always call teh Sherriff's dept directly and ask these questions. They are nice folks.

I am certified to teach the NRA Basic Pistol and I have everything you need to conduct the class.
But keep in mind, this is for novice shooters.
My target audience is beginning shooters and Mil. Spouses interested in training to meet requirements for CO CCW.
I wont charge $135,my winter rates are lower. Weather is the big factor.

NRA Cert of Training included for proof to to show the Sheriffs Dept.

I think the prices for everything is the same here in mesa county as it is in other countys in Co. A Concealed Handgun Permit application is $102.50 total: $50.00 for application processing and $52.50 for the fingerprinting and FBI background check here in my county. Then the rest of the money is in your training class taught by a certified instructor. Well like I said, that is how it is here in mesa county.

El Paso dropped the price by $40 a few months ago so it should be around $112 instead of $152 total when I got mine. Thank Sheriff Maketa< JK!
