Based on the facts in the story (possibly incorrect, not held to the same standard as justice)... if I were Mrs. Williams, I would be more than "expressing 'sadness'", but would be abhorrent of my own acceptance that my family was not belted, and wishing that I could trade places with the pregnant woman whose death I caused...
Her initial reaction is probably much more accurate of her internal morals, and is sickening.
