I've got an oversized red Dobermann. 4" above breed standard and 50 lbs heavier. He is the best dog I've ever owned. He was real easy to train and has remembered all of his training. Good with our grandaughter and friendly. My house insurance company canceled my policy because he's a Dobie. Took a bit of time but I found another insurance company that didn't care. Choc my Dobie is like a piece of velcro. Every where I go he goes. Inever have to worry about going to the bathroom alone!

My condolences as well, Bailey. They aren't just pets, they're members of the family and just as missed when they pass.

Hey Byte, thanks for posting those pics. I can't seem to get any of mine to work.

My condolences as well Bailey... I KNOW when it's time for my Bud to pass that I'm going to be a sobbing wreck.

Isn't that funny? I told my insurance (and the apartment manager) that my dog was more well behaved than half the ADULTS living here, lol. Needless to say, she spent about 10 minutes with them and fell in love. Now everytime I go to the front office, they all want em to bring Buddy with me. Ha.

I have a fantastic picture of Buddy asleep holding his stuffed bear and tucked under his blankets... but I can't seem to load it.

It's amazing how our animals can be such an integral part of the family, and how much personality they have. Brutus chased some geese out onto a frozen lake and fell through the ice last year. What could I do, sit and watch my dog drown or freeze to death? No way. I went out and got him, nearly fell through myself. I was halfway under water and Brutus was my full arm's length below the surface. I pulled him halfway up onto the ice, got myself back on "solid" ice and pulled him the rest of the way up. We both walked back together to the sand. It was a pretty big lake.

@Bailey: I know exactly how you feel, and I'll be miserable when Brutus goes. My fiance is going to feel the same way when our oldest dog, Puck, dies. I love him too, but he's only been a part of my family for 7 months.

Here's our latest addition (I already posted our other guys in a previous thread). My wife rescued him - he had been abandoned and was almost starved to death along the bike path near the river. Folks had seen him for wandering for around a month. He stayed at the vet for a week to get back on his feet. We tried, but could not locate his owner. He's even micro-chipped (so we know his name is Shadow, and he's 13), but his owner has vanished.

Any ideas what he is? The vets think he's a wolf hybrid. He doesn't shed (it's like hair - not fur). He's awfully sweet, especially considering what he's been through. He'll be comfortable for as long as he's with us.

Here he is with some of his coat grown back:

I had two Boxer/Staffordshire Terrier mix pups. They were sisters from the same litter and some of the biggest gobbers around. Scared the pants off most people when they perked up their ears though yet the only things they chased were rabbits and birds.
Aurora banned my babies and it was also the time I went to Iraq, thankfully a friend took them in and they are still doing great. 85 pounds of pure loving, slobbering tongue!!!

Sorry for your loss Bailey. T.J. a 7yo German Shepherd - the first dog I lost years back was so much harder than I thought it'd ever be, that guy was my shadow and went everywhere I could take him. Just thinking about it puts a bit of a lump in my throat.

Good on you, Fentonite. As to what he is - he sure looks like he has some Chow in him. The way his muzzle looks, the fur, and his build/stance sure look like Chow. Just my $.02...
