That is crappy man, sorry to hear. Not sure what kind of Vehicle you drive, or what kind of stereo it takes, but i've got a fairly standard Sony CD player laying around somewhere, you can have it if your not in a position to get a new one. Worked when I pulled it from my last vehicle.
