Where are you looking to go? How far of a drive? Rocky Mountain National Park has tons of trails, some really easy some really hard. The park rangers are great at helping you locate the right trail for you. Also the top of rabbit ears pass near steamboat springs has 3 really nice trails on them, they are flat and easy to get to. one is short, the others are about 4 miles long.

It definitely does, thank you. I am SE Aurora and was looking for something a little nearer if possible, maybe Boulder Area, but I will definitely try RMNP as well.

A trail my wife and have snowshoed countless times is Mayflower Gulch Trail. It's about 6 miles off of I70 from the Copper Mountain exit going towards Leadville. The parking area is on the left hand side, 2nd parking area North of Clinton Reservoir. If you see the reservoir you've gone to far. A couple old mining cabins at the end of the trail. When you get to the cabins and a gate, the trail swichbacks up a ridge to the North to the base of Fletcher mountain, great views, it overlooks Clinton Reservoir. About 5 EZ miles round trip.

X2 I've been meaning to buy a couple pairs of shoes, and hit the hills. My first destination was going to be around our Cabin property, but there hasn't been enough snow up there this year to do any shoeing, hell I drove my Jeep all the way up there just last month. Maybe after these last couple weeks things will be different.

Rabbit ears pass is about 3 hours form where you are. up 70 to silverthorn then north through kremling almost to steamboat springs. they get a ton of snow up there. and it is very popular with snowshoeing, cross country skiing, and snow mobiles. But all have very seperate tracks so you dont cross eachother.

There are some nice trails out 285 past Bailey. One that starts right of 285 is Ben Tyler Gulch trail - if there's snow I was there Christmas Eve day and no snow, but may be now. Also if you drive up Guanella Pass Rd from 285 side there are a couple nice trails that start right at the campground where they stop plowing the road. There is one on each side of the road. I like going out 285 as you aren't dealing with the I70 traffic.

Betasso Preserve up Boulder Canyon has a nice couple-mile loop, mostly flat or easy grades of not much consequence.

St. Mary's Glacier is usually a good place for snow shoeing. It's just west of Idaho Springs. Someone started charging $5.00 for parking at the trail head. From the trail head it's a kinda steep 3/4 of a mile up to the lake and glacier. Once there you have a few choices of where to head. I think it's one of the most beautiful places in CO any time of the year.

Thanks guys. I am definitely writing those down to add the next couple of trails. I got the book that was recommended to me...Lots of great info. I also went snow shoeing around Brainard Lake. Easy trail and lots of fun.
