And, frankly, I think it's shows a pattern by the current administration to bypass the proper law-making authority. It's no secret that the current liberal ruling class wants gay marriage laws passed. They haven't been too successful so they're bypassing legislatures with this sort of thing. Not a huge step...just a small one for now. The Obama administration has never publicly defended the Defense of Marriage Act as far as I know. This is just another attempt by this administration to weaken traditional values while advancing the cause of liberalism and political correctness.

Not to mention that every child has a natural mother and father. What's wrong with putting the correct information on the form. And why do we need to spend the money for this to make an extremely small minority of those who apply for a passport "feel" good about themselves...for no real practical reason?

"It doesn't affect me directly" is a pretty lame excuse for supporting by default an idea of this sort.

If the government came out tomorrow and said, "Effective today over and under shotguns are banned," I guess I wouldn't need to worry about it because it doesn't affect me directly? After all...I don't own an OU and I probably never will. And don't use the "it's a right" argument...we already know our rights are not absolute and supreme court precedence has already decided that certain guns not suitable for military use have no place in civilian hands.

You can be OK with this sort of thing all you want. But I'm not convinced with your "it doesn't affect you" argument at all.

And, yes, I have a passport. I would suspect that a fairly substantial number of people will fill out passport applications this year.

Where does it stop?

These were the coherent words that I was seeking. Thank You Bailey

While I could care less what two adults do in the privacy of their home I resent the fact that they feel they are ENTITLED to the same encumberances that a traditional family/marriage is.
I feel for the children in these situations. Nothing like setting a child up to fail and be teased.
One of the toughest things I ever had to do as a parent was to try and explain to my then 6 year old what two men were doing kissing at the Taste of Colorado.
And it is truely sad to see morals shoved aside all because the carpet munchers and rump rangers feel they are ENTITLED.

I hate that frickin word anymore
