Do you think these guys should pay a $2500 fine?

They probable don't even know that law. I didnt know you couldnt put targets on trees or hanging off of trees till a ranger saw me do it and let me know about the rules. That is where people should start at. Politely let people know what they are doing wrong.

True . . . although it might constitute a mitigating circumstance in regard to sentencing.

There are a lot of details we don't know about this. Did they handle their firearms in an unsafe manner? Did they break any other laws?

If anyone gets the urge, I have several trees in my yard that are ready to be shot. I'm taking RSVP's for Earth Day, for a mass tree shooting.

It is guys like that who cause the areas to be shut down. It is our responsibility as responsible firearms owners to report these miscreants to the USFS LE Rangers. The area is in Douglas County and the District Ranger (Pikes Peak) is out of Woodland Park, (719) 636-1602.
