I think I will try that on my 300 RUM.
Nice job, looks great!
How do you like it compared to the factory knob?
Good work. Two questions: What knob did you use? Did you go round from the square with a file?

It is the EGW knob. Saved me about $7 over the badger. I still may switch over to the grooved one they make I couldn't decide.
I used my straight die grinder with a cut off wheel to cut it. I used my 90 deg. die grinder with a 36 grit disk on it to round it. You could use a file if you don't have a die grinder. Just take your time and take a little off at a time and keep measuring till you get it where you want it. If you are really like the sound of a bench grinder, you could just grind it down from the get go and not cut it square like I did. It would just take a while and you would have to keep breaking so it didn't get too hot.
So far I like it a lot better than the factory knob but I have not shot it yet (damn mother nature). I was out a couple of weeks ago and shot three hundred rounds out of it. The factory knob made my thumb and fore finger raw from the knurling on it. I don't think I will have that problem with this one.
I'm going to do the same thing with my 700 PSS. I have a machinist buddy who made me a couple knobs like this a while back, put the first one on my Mauser pseudo-scout and saved the second for this one. Good job on yours!

Yep, my biggest gripe about the tactical 700s, they put that dinky little know on there. I sent my 700 PSS bolt to AZ Precision and had him do the upgrade for me. I also had him do a sendero bolt with a smaller knob at e same time. I'm seriously considering sending him a third bolt from my 7mm mag and have him put a stubbie knob on it.
Mom's comin' 'round to put it back the way it ought to be.
Anyone that thinks war is good is ignorant. Anyone that thinks war isn't needed is stupid.
Looks good and it looks like you did a good job of turning a square peg into a round one. Not as easy as it looks is it? It looks like you got decent and full threads on it as well. The most important thing when you go to thread it is keeping the die straight relative to the bolt handle.
