    Default Denver survival co-op Navigation 101 compass and map 2/27

    Topic: Compass 101 how to use a compass map and pace count for basic navigation

    Location: Crown hill park in Lakewood park near Wheatridge senior high school and walk the trail directly south of the ball field till you hit water there's a gazebo with a picnic table.

    Time: Sunday Feb 27th 11:30am sharp-2pm

    CCW: The park does not allow open carry. Please park on holland street next to the high school.

    Gear required: 1 Open mind, dress for the elements

    Optional gear: Lawn chair, note book, your compass

    Cost: $0 (donations are accepted)

    A handout will be prepared for all who RSVP

    This is a introduction course there will be 102 finding your way without a compass and 201 intermediate compass course coming soon

    Dang, I have to work 12 noon - 5pm on Sundays. Maybe the schedule will change by then.

    I took a general map class for the company I work for today. I didn't learn anything that would be relevant to orienteering, but I did learn a lot about how to read a Colorado map. Stuff like how the streets are named in certain areas. It's probably stuff that a lot of the natives here already know, but let me know if you want to include any of the info.

    If you could run me off a copy I'll be happy to add any info to the 102 without a compass class, but this is strictly orienteering.

    I'm getting my son into more camping and hiking and he needs some basic navigation instruction (and I am always looking for refresher's). He's 11 would he be okay to come along.
