Hmmm... does this mean that their bodyguards have to be unarmed? I can see serious civil rights issues here, as this would essentially be a restraining order against pretty much anyone that has a firearm. F*cking asshats didn't bother to think this sh!t through. How in the f*ck did these morons even manage to breathe without cue cards?

Last I checked, attempting to kill someone was against the law anyhow, so why in the hell do we need yet another useless law that only affects the law abiding?

I have a better idea: Let's pass a law that makes it a felony for a politician to come within 1000 feet of a law abiding citizen who happens to have a firearm!

Do you really expect Mayor Bloomnidiot to react any other way? He is who he is.
But let me get this right- If I am walking/driving down the street and I am lawfully allowed to carry and do so and Mrs Crotchrot who is on City Council comes within 1000' of me:
    I AM THE CRIMINAL?

would make it illegal to bring a gun within 1,000 feet of a government official.
They left off the part of the bill that will require all public officials to now carry a multi-colored bouquet of balloons each stamped "public official" around with them wherever they go - just to make things fair and equitable to those who wish to exercise their 2A rights.

"Passing a similar law for government officials would give federal, state, and local law enforcement a better chance to intercept would-be shooters before they pull the trigger," King's statement said.
Yeah, 'cuz there weren't any existing laws covering the firing of the gun while pointing it at people with intent to commit murder. Just think, if we had a law to make murder illegal, that would have stopped him too - because it would have given "federal, state, and local law enforcement a better chance to intercept would-be shooters before they pull the trigger".
