The slight wobble weally doesn't effect anything, but I guess it's a peace of mind thing. I made my own wedge by cutting a "L" shaped chunk of rubber off an old hard recoil pad.

I have modded lowers by drilling and tapping for a nylon tipped setscrew that when adjusted just contacts the pin boss of the upper- it does help but the Accuwedge is a pure drop in that works ok. The only drawback to them is they can make it almost too tight of a fit and can be a bear to get the pin in when they are new. After a few mags have been run they will loosen up a touch.
Unless the play is excessive I would not be too worried about it.

Is it really necessary for it to be TIGHT vs. a decent fit?

No, but a great number of us here tend to lean heavily to the anal retentive side.....

If anything I may have kept it too loose. In any event I'd caution you on the use of this. I've run into one other person that had the same problem that I did. It damaged the lower and I took a $200 loss on it.

    Use caution!
