Full disclosure: I am a NRA Benefactor Life Member
I don't want to turn this into a "NRA Sucks" thread, or a "my gun-rights organization is better than your gun-rights organization" thread.
If you're not interested, just let it go at that. Some people like the NRA, some don't, some (like me) join as many as possible.
At any rate:
The NRA has again offered me (not just me...I, like many other life members, received this offer in the mail today) the chance to sign up friends/family for a life member ship for $300 or a yearly membership for $19. The normal membership fees are:
***I don't receive anything from the NRA for doing this...nothing, zip, zero***
- Life = $1000
- Annual = $35
If you are interested and would like to take advantage of this offer here's what you need to do. PM me with the following information:If you don't feel comfortable sending that in a PM, call me at 7203848178. This is the information required on the form.
- Full name (as you want it reflected on your membership)
- Mailing address
- Phone number
- Email Address
- Date of Birth (This is new...it doesn't say if it's required or optional)
- Membership choice (Life or Annual)
- Magazine choice (American Hunter, American Rifleman, America's First Freedom)
I'll PM you the address where you can mail me a check or money order in the appropriate amount.
All checks/money orders should be made payable to NRA...not to me.
I did this once before on CO-AR15.com and a couple of times on THR and the response was great! (Here's the current THR thread: http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?t=556211) NRA has limited this offer to 20 people and I've always had at least that many respond. The cutoff date is 01/15/2011 so I need everything at least 1 week before that.
I'll fill out all the paperwork and forward the package, minimum of 4 membership applications at a time, to NRA. I'll pick up the postage so there's no need to worry about that.
Might make a nice Christmas present, too.
In the past, response times from NRA have been as quick as one week to as long as 8 weeks. They typically are deluged with applicants and some take longer than others.
***NO! I don't receive any sort of payment, gift, pat on the back, attaboy, kudo or anything else from the NRA for this. As a matter of fact, it's kind of a PITA to keep everything straight.***
