    Default New to me FJ60

Just picked up some new wheels this weekend. 1984 FJ60. Been wanting one for a long time. Missed having a truck since I sold my Tacoma 2 years ago. Plenty of room for guns and my dog. Looking forward to taking her camping and shooting next weekend.

Took her in for emissions, failed. Fixed the intake hose, replaced vacuum hoses, replaced air filter, replaced plugs. Idle went from 1000 down to 700 where it should be. then I realized despite my efforts I STILL have to take it to a shop.

I've had a couple of those over the years. Great vehicles.

The best people in town I've found to work on these is Rocky Mountain Cruisers on Federal. They know their stuff.

I bought an 87 from them about 6 years ago and they are currently putting together an FJ40 my brother just bought.

I just need to find a mechanic sympathetic to my plight. I bought the truck on Saturday and went right to the emissions facility. I figured if it didn't pass I'd have the rest of the day Saturday and all of Sunday to make repairs. Never had a vehicle fail before so I didn't read the fine print that says you HAVE to take it to a mechanic.

Only my CO was over. I tested at 59 and the limit is 55. Everything else was fine.

Previous owner is supposed to provide an emissions test before you purchase. Did that not happen?

PO lived in Greely. No emissions there. It was registered in LaSalle.

They are really cool but they get real thirsty real quick. OP I had an '84 FJ-60, and for some reason the red ones always rusted out faster then any other color LOL (she's in yota heaven). Yours looks good, good luck with the Emmissons on it
