    Default refinished a M44 stock

Bought a M44 off here and refinished the stock. Was my first time doing such a thing. overall it came out pretty good for just hand sanding it. If I would have spent more time it would have come out better but the color came out pretty nice, and the clear I put on it has held up pretty well and looks good so I am happy with it.

I am considering cutting off the bayonet and some of the stock to cut down on weight. I think I might try my hand at duracoat as well and this would be a perfect test rifle.

anyway, here is the before and after photos.

WOW there is nice looking wood under all that old shellac? Might have to look closer at mine and see if it is worth doing too. Nice job!

That's a slick looking M44. I may have to refinish my 9130, but its a laminate stock, so I don't know how much of a difference it would make.
